He won a Canadian Genie Award for Best Actor in “One Man”.

In May of 1959 Doug & Donna Summerhayes organized a meeting of more than 100 parents of children with Cystic Fibrosis. At this meeting, they laid the groundwork for what later became The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
In the early years, Doug and Donna traveled throughout Canada, often at their own expense, to raise awareness and help establish local chapters. Doug was the Foundation’s first President and Donna was the first editor of the Foundation’s newsletter.
For their continuous efforts and remarkable achievements, Doug and Donna Summerhayes were awarded the Order of Canada, Donna in 1987 and Doug in 1988. Officially incorporated in 1960, this year marks the 50th anniversary of The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and are also hosting their annual conference here in Ottawa.
To kick off the 4 day meeting, a donors reception was held at the Rideau Club and I, along with my friend Leon Switzer of TotolPhoto, were asked to photograph the event.
Here I am wih Mrs. Mila Mulroney, wife of the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, Brian Mulroney, and the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Canada’s Minister of Finance.
Thanks for the photos Leon!

A very special THANK YOU to everyone who came out tonight for the Ottawa Senators 65 Roses Gala to help breathe life into the future for young Canadians battling cystic fibrosis!

The event, which was hosted by Max Keeping and 65 Roses celebrity chairman, the Sens forward and right-winger Shean Donovan, raises money for young Canadians battling cystic fibrosis in the Ottawa area. This was a year that also celebrated the foundations 50th anniversary.
On hand were members of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, community leaders, sponsors and supporters.
The event was held at the Hampton Inn Conference Centre.
