65 Roses Gala

hdr_bkgdCF-Capture

Because of my involvement with Heather,(1), and the impact it had on me, I recently contacted the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada, to volunteer my services as a photographer. Together with the foundation, the Childrens Hospital Of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ottawa General Hospital, I have had the honour and privilege to provide photographic services to the sweetest and bravest children you will ever meet.

On Monday, February 8th, 2010, The Ottawa Chapter of the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, along the the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, will be holding their annual fundraiser, The Ottawa Senators 65 Roses Gala.

This also marks the 50th anniversary of the Foundation. There has been significant progress in cystic fibrosis research and care since the Foundation was established in 1960. Researchers across Canada are now studying all aspects of cystic fibrosis, including fixing the basic defect and treating the symptoms of the disease. Thanks to tremendous advances in research and treatment, people with cystic fibrosis are living longer and healthier lives.

Please take a moment and think about making a difference in the life of a child afflicted with cystic fibrosis and come on out on and support this very worthy cause.

Proceeds from this event support the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in conducting health research and supporting specialized care for children and young adults battling cystic fibrosis.

Hope to see you there!

Jean

Patrick Carpentier

PC

So the story goes like this…

Yesterday I received an email from Belanger RV/Auto dealer to invite me to an event at their dealership. They mentioned that Patrick Carpentier would be on hand with his race car to sign autographs. Patrick is a Nascar driver. They also included a link to YouTube to promote the event:
http://www.youtube.com/user/belangerautomax#p/a/u/2/JxTk8zyJmCo

Knowing that my colleague Leon covers Nascar, I sent him an email letting him know about the event.

Well folks, this is where it gets interesting…
After Leon checks out the video, he writes thanking me for the heads-up and also that, in his words, “they STOLE my picture!”
If you watch the video, at the 14-15 second mark, there is a photo of Partrick that was taken from Leon’s stream:

So I go there this morning, bring up Leon’s Flickr stream on my phone and ask Patrick to hold it and let me take a photo of him holding my phone displaying a photo of himself.

And now… you know the rest of the story…

**P.S. The photo was not “borrowed” by the dealership themselves but by a marketing company hired by the dealer.**

Rebekah Hard at Work

Rebekah and I had a session today with a very pleasant and popular young man who has Cystic Fibrosis. Not only did he have our photo shoot to contend with, but he also had a video conference appointment and then a filmed "biography" session… all before noon!
